It was at the beginning of 2019 when I first heard Six Pianos by Steve Reich and was instantly hooked. My first rework of a classical piece had already been completed. "Très Lent", a movement from Maurice Ravel's String Quartet in F major, was released by Deutsche Grammophon in 2020. Six Pianos was an ideal continuation of my work and my compositional approach here is based entirely on improvisation on the synthesizer, without any sequencer.

The original composition serves unedited as the basis for my arrangement. In a fluid process, an additional voice is created with each new run-through. I play these myself with my Oberheim synthesizer, but also live on the cello. This way Six Pianos is given a new colour and a different meaning. Steve Reich has personally approved this rework.

The film Koyaanisqatsi (Godfrey Reggio, 1982) was a
great inspiration for my rework. The interplay of breathtaking images of nature together with captivating music by Philip Glass is
outstanding. During my improvisation on "Six Pianos", these same images floated through my head and inspired new melodies and rhythms. The perceived boundlessness of the music carries the immense power of nature and allows the listener to wander into infinity.
